For ACCIONA, 2009 has been a year of record investment in R&D and Innovation. This activity has been decidedly influenced by the review of the R&D Strategic Plan and the financial assistance provided by the European Investment Bank. 

The boost given to this type of activity has resulted in the investment of €92.2 million in direct R&D and Innovation projects. A large portion of this investment (90%) has gone to the Energy and Infrastructure divisions.  

In 2009, a total of 109 research projects grouped in 12 work areas linked to ACCIONA business have been executed. A total of 377 professionals make-up the Company's R&D and Innovation team (a 2.7% increase on 2008).
